This promo below was made using my other favorite tool – After Effects plus couple of plugins such as Boris Continuum Complete, Trapcode Form and Zaxwerks Serpentine. I’m very proud of this product, having worked on it for such a long time, and the promo came out pretty nice as well, if I may say so myself. In recent months, we’ve been working on upgrading and improving the site. As in life, it started out with minor renovations, you know, just to replace the closet handles. But as we started to work on it, we surfboard very quickly to “if we do that – lets do that as well”. Finally, I decided to re-shape and build everything from scratch while keeping the spirit of the current site. I’m happy to report that we are now at the final beta stages.

The new site will include lots of new content. Among other things, we have a new and improved Tutorials page, Downloadable projects, an Improved blog, New comments system and much more.

I’m sure it’s worth waiting for, so be sure to check back soon for more updates.
Oh and BTW, if you see things appear and disappear from the site – there is no need to be alarmed, it happens while the new improvements are being uploaded. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience, but it is only temporary.

As for the show floor itself, I must say I haven’t seen new ground breaking products that will impact my digital life. Though, I will point out these 4 products which I found most interesting:

1. Trapcode Particular 2 which should be available this summer from Red Giant Software. you can watch a demo of the product here.
2. 3D Serpentine - A new plug in from Zaxwerks that create fanciful 3D noodles.
3. Matrox Compress HD accelerator board which encode H.264 video faster than realtime.
4. Adobe Story - a collaborative scriptwriting tool. There’s no product yet, but it does look very interesting, watch for a beta software soon at Adobe Labs.

These are the projects results of my students at the Visual Communication department at Shenkar college. The assignment was to design a package for a broadcast channel or a Television show of their liking. They were asked to come up with a logo and at least 3 bumpers, a split screen window, credits look and loop/schedule program. They used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for the Logo design, After Effects for motion and composting, and some 3ds Max for 3D.

think the outcome is quite unique, original, and in some cases almost calls for a real channel to adapt it. What can I say, they make me proud

I especially like the Gyro tutorial for its use of Text elements combined with shape tools and simple filters, all cooked up with some clever expressions which yield a nice design and sophisticated look.
