NAB is less than a month away. It’s a week of fun, fellowship, education, parties and more gear than your brain can process. There’s many official and unofficial events that happen during the day and in the evening. Most of the events and conferences require you to register for SMART Pass so check the links carefully so you know what you can attend and when.
I’m a bit biased toward the Post|Production World conference since I’m teaching three classes there. One session is normal, that is an hour and fifteen minutes in length and two are in-depth sessions – 3 hours in length each.
Here’s the breakdown list plus short clip from the first session:
Paint, Clone & Art Effects – Creative Usage of the Paint Tools in After Effects
Monday, 4/16/2012 05:00 PM – 06:15 PM
Real life examples for using the Brush, Eraser and Clone Stamp Tools inside After Effects. Learn how to auto animate natural strokes, repeat elements and fix problem areas in your footage. Create an artistic hand-drawn “sketchy” look using a combination of the Cartoon effects with Photoshop Extended smart filters for video.
Audience: Beginning to Intermediate After Effects and Motion artists.
In-Depth: Get the Most Out of Vectors and Shapes in After Effects
Tuesday, 4/17/2012 10:00 AM – 01:00 PM
All the information you’ll need in order to prepare Illustrator vectors for working inside After Effects. You’ll also discover the power in math operations for shape layers inside After Effects and learn how to use it in a real world design scenario. Use Paths, Masks and Shapes with effects to create stunning motion graphics animation and finesse them with advanced animation tricks using the graph editor.
Audience: Beginning to Intermediate After Effects and Motion artists.
In-Depth: Broadcast Design Workshop with After Effects
Wednesday, 4/18/2012 10:00 AM – 01:00 PM
Use After Affects and Illustrator to create a TV broadcast promo from concept to design. Create a graphic package for a special sports event harnessing the power of Simulation effects, 3D spheres and live footage. Learn how to build a matching color scheme and short story with huge impact. You will be able to rely on the final result for a complete channel package.
Audience: Beginning to intermediate After Effects and Motion graphic artists.

Hi Frank, Look in the products page where you will find a handful of learning tools for After Effects from Beginner to Advanced level. My latest product After Effects Artist in Action Training is somewhat similar to what I’ve taught at NAB. I’m planning to add more courses soon, so make sure to visit the site periodically to keep up to date. Good luck.

Hi Mr. Stern. I sat in on your AE lectures at NAB and would like to have the tutirials that reflect those sessions. Are they available for purchase? Also, is there a comprehensive set of biginner to advanced tutorials for after effects cs6 that you have for sale? I would like to purchase that too. I know you are busy but I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible because I need to get up to speed quickly for a ferw projects. One more question; Do you have any NYC or Connecticut classes planned anytime soon? Thanks, Frank Blackwell
